| Fatigue

Many of us are tired. Many of us have a poor night's sleep and drag through the next day ... but with illnesses such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, fatigue is brought to the next level and can be life altering. There is very little available in our medical system to treat fatigue. Good sleep hygiene (avoid caffeine, regular bed times and awakening, etc.), professional sleep evaluation and laboratory studies for endocrine dysfunction or anemia are definite first steps. When all of the tests are "normal", however, we're left with very little else.
In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), fatigue is thought to be an imbalance of our energy with too little yin energy, too little yang energy, or deficiencies of both. One of the most remarkable things about treatment with acupuncture for almost any condition, is that patients leave our office with more energy. Improved energy balance often allows our patients to have the strength and focus to get back to caring for themselves, back to work and back to life.
